 Hi everyone,

I'm a Colorado gecko kinda new to 'caching. My friend sibertyger introduced me to i in 2008 and we went on a few excursions over the summer. Things got busy so we didn't get to cache much. I missed it.

Then recently I got a job in Utah lasting June through October and decided to get a GPS for hiking and 'caching. I just got a used Garmin eTrex Summit HC and loaded it up with caches near myself, my brother's place in San Diego, and my job in Cedar City, Utah.

Hope to meet some cool folks around here! And if you're in the Denver area, let's go 'caching!

Hey Everyone...I am deciding to pick up my own GPS unit...I've done some caching recently (father/daughter bonding :P) and was borrowing a friend's of his GPS...but would like to get my own.

I am totally a nOOb and do not know a lot about the different devices. All I know...is that I STILL scream when I find these little boxes in bushes and in trees. lol.

Any suggestions? :) Also...where to find em would be awesome. I need something...simple. Not because I'm a dumbass (shut up naysayers!) - but I do not need the bells and whistles.

Thanks kids.

Hi guys!

It is my intention to lead a geocaching trip some time during Further Confusion. I have chosen two caches that would give us a nice walking tour of downtown San Jose.

If you are interested, comment here and let me know! I will send you a time as I get more responses!

Does anybody know how to increase the accuracy of a Garmin eTrax Legend CX? I was out Geocaching today... and twice, my GPS had me off target. I found out I was off target when another Geocacher showed up looking for the same ones and she found it before me and when I was not standing close to it. The husband mentioned about getting my GPS reconfigured so it would be more accurate. I tried for a third one which took me onto a main highway bridge. Even though the description said that "I can reach it from the Pedestrian walkway easily", my GPS wanted me to stand in the middle of the road. O.o

What can I do to increase the accuracy? Or is this another learning curve I need to go through?

I probably should introduce myself. ^.^

For those here that don't know me, I'm Wildfox. I live up in Goshen, IN (30 minutes east of South Bend) and I started Geocaching a couple weeks ago when I decided I needed more hobbies in my life and I knew a few furs that do this. Figured I'd give it a shot and I'm already up to 11 so far! And one that's only a couple miles away that I somehow can't seem to find. o.o

My GPS is a Garmin eTrax Legend CX that I picked up for a good price on eBay and I've been learning more and more about the unit and Geocaching since I've received it!

So...Do you like Geocaching? Need info on a new GPSr? Want to hear and share horror and fun stories about caching? Never heard of it??? Well, At MFF this year, join luckytheevildog and myself as we share all of the above. Tales of great hides, and awesome finds, discussions on geocoins and pathtags, software, and of course, the all popular travel bugs will be covered.

Oh, for those coming to the panel on Friday night @ 7PM...we'll have a special cache for you to find! This will NOT be an official MFF event or Geocaching cache, as we would like only those coming to the panel to find it; it will not be published on Geocaching's website. So you'll have to come to the panel to get the coordinates. I have a feeling its going to be a tad harder to find than your normal ones too! And FTF will get a special prize ^.^

This isn't an overly vocal lj group but was wondering if anyone was thinking about attending GWVII. I live just north-east of Nashville, TN so I will likely go for at least Saturday.
My brother is about an hour east of Bell Buckle, TN so he is going to try to attend also. (I've pulled him into a furry interest and geocaching)

Anyone going to try to attend GWVII?

found geocaching a few weeks back. myself and Clover went to one  literaly 5 minutes fromthe house. would have never known it was there. I currently use a garmin nuvi  it plots the area and  I walk it. I do not use the option for it directing me there as where would be the fun in that.  We are going to go down to Parkersburg IA  this week or next to find a couple that are there  hopefully the tornado did not effect these areas. Its  fun I have heard about it but never thought about doing it. I am glad we started and we deff will keep doing it.

Any furs planning to attend MFM 2008 and maybe consider nabbing a few caches in the area?
Sunday is really my olny day when I have some time cuz the rest of the time I'm working on the auction. With my low tollerance for heat I'm not sure how many I'd be up to getting but I'll likely try for some.
Anyone else?
