Device suggestions!
Hey Everyone...I am deciding to pick up my own GPS unit...I've done some caching recently (father/daughter bonding :P) and was borrowing a friend's of his GPS...but would like to get my own.

I am totally a nOOb and do not know a lot about the different devices. All I know...is that I STILL scream when I find these little boxes in bushes and in trees. lol.

Any suggestions? :) Also...where to find em would be awesome. I need something...simple. Not because I'm a dumbass (shut up naysayers!) - but I do not need the bells and whistles.

Thanks kids.

Mine is about as bell-and-whistle-less as it gets. It's an old Magellan eXplorist, and it cost around $100 at the time. There are some Garmins in the eTrex line that are currently under $100.

The one option/feature I wish I had relates to how I enter coordinates. I have a miniature "joystick", and when I need to enter something, I have to input characters one at a time via an on-screen keypad. There are some with touch screens, and others where you can download data from your computer.

Just as a start, go to Garmin's website. They have an interactive "Which product should I choose" feature. It may help you to make a decision. It will also let you know what sorts of options/features are available.

As far as where to buy, just about anywhere. Wal-Mart, Target, outdoorsy stores (Cabellas, etc), Best Buy, Amazon, . . .

I bid on this and won it on eBay. :) I think it will do the job. I can't wait to get it out and try it. I am HOPING it will be here by next weekend, as I am traveling, but if not- I will def get some use out of it when it does get here. :)

That's almost exactly mine. I have a 200. You'll be fine.
